A Thrilling Taste Of Bowls For All | Bowls’ Big Weekend 2022

30th May, 2022

Bowls’ Big Weekend fascinated the nation this weekend as bowls clubs opened their doors to welcome new people to our sensational sport. Clubs were delightfully decorated with banners, balloons and bunting with the weather being glorious throughout the weekend.

735 of our affiliated clubs staged 884 events over the course of the weekend. A tremendous well done to all of the clubs involved who dedicated time to support the second Bowls’ Big Weekend and produce superb success. BBQs, scones and drinks were enjoyed to accompany the bowls. To all the club members, coaches and committed volunteers – THANK YOU!

We ensured to visit as many clubs as possible over Bowls’ Big Weekend as possible. Bowlers of our 2022 Commonwealth Games squad, members of our Board and Staff team attended a variety of clubs throughout the weekend.

The monumental opportunity we have this year of a home Commonwealth Games plays key in giving as many new faces, of all ages and abilities, a taste of giving a bowls a go. We received some incredible feedback from people who had never picked up a bowl before.

“The game is fascinating”

“We’ve had great fun!”

“We’ll be going back for some coaching sessions, definitely”

“I am immediately addicted!”

See some images and social media posts below as lots of people enjoyed thrilling fun in having their first taste of bowls all across England! We’d love to receive any images and videos content from your club from Bowls’ Big Weekend 2022 – Please send to daniel.ellicott@bowlsengland.com
