Amended schedule of play – Sunday 25 August

24th August, 2024

We wish to advise that a small number of changes have been made to the original schedule on Sunday 25 August.

Whilst the first 10 days of the event have seen no clashes in individual events due to careful scheduling and allocation of matches, some players are involved in more than one event tomorrow (Sunday 25th August), including the Family Pairs and Champion of Champions – events in which substitution is problematic. Therefore to ensure that the Family Pairs can be concluded on the day and that players may fulfil their matches in the Champion of Champions, the start time for the Family Pairs semi-finals has been brought forward by 45 minutes from that originally published. Other rounds in those events will follow during the day subject to results.

Whilst this difficult decision is against our published ruling on duplications, given the circumstances the Tournament Committee has determined that this is the most appropriate way to alleviate the potential duplications on this occasion. However, this does not mean that we shall be able to accommodate duplications during the remainder of the event – especially in inter-county, inter-club and other national competitions. Players/teams are advised to make appropriate plans for substitutes and/or use of other squad members should they foresee a clash.

The Competitions Programme for 2025, as approved at the AGM in February 2024, aims to provide clearer differentiation between events in order to increase participation and reduce duplications at the Aviva National Finals.
