B2022 | Day Eight Preview

4th August, 2022

Journalist for the i newspaper, Bowls England National Finals commentator and a name well-known to bowlers, Emily Ferguson will be reviewing most days of the action at Victoria Park.

Bright and early on Friday, Jamie Walker will play the Quarter Final of the Men’s Singles against Aaron Wilson – who won the Gold in the discipline at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The Women’s Triples (Jamie-Lea Winch, Natalie Chestney and Sian Honnor) will play for their chance to reach the Gold Medal Match at the same time, when they play the Cook Islands at 8:30am in the Semi-Final. Win or lose they will play again at 4:30pm for their chance to make the podium.

Sophie Tolchard and Amy Pharaoh will play India at 8:30am in their Quarter Final match of the Women’s Pairs. They will be hoping to continue their fine form and secure another win to get them within touching distance of a medal. If they win their match the Semi Finals will take place at noon.

The Men’s Fours (Louis Ridout, Nick Brett, Jamie Chestney and Sam Tolchard) will also return to the greens at 12 noon to play in their Quarter Final match. If they win, their next game will take place in the afternoon session at 4:30pm.

We have another medal match in the Para Mixed Pairs B2/B3 where Alison Yearling and Chris Turnbull will be playing for their chance to win the bronze medal. They will play Australia at 12pm and the medal ceremony will take place shortly after the conclusion of play.

N.B: Bowls England has no control over what matches are aired via the BBC, who are the exclusive rights holders in the UK. They are required to treat all the Home Nations equally. We have had many discussions with the BBC over the past few months and we hope to have lots more coverage as the tournament develops.
