Sunday 23rd June sees the Regional Finals for the Balcomb Trophy and Walker Cup take place, with counties eagerly contesting for a spot in the Aviva National Finals.
The matches promise thrilling action, with all semi-final games starting at 10am and the finals being played at 2pm.
The victorious teams from these Regional Finals will advance to the semi-finals at the Aviva National Finals on Sunday 25th August, held at Victoria Park in Royal Leamington Spa.
The counties involved bring a wealth of talent and competitive spirit to the Regional Finals. In 2023, Essex triumphed in the Balcomb Trophy, defeating Cumbria 45-36, marking their second consecutive win. Their run in this year’s competition came to an end against Norfolk in the first round, 37-35.
Meanwhile, Lincolnshire, the reigning Walker Cup champions, secured their fifth title last year by overcoming Norfolk 32-27.
However, they also faced defeat in the first round this year after Cumbria triumphed 39-30. This means we will see new names on these illustrious titles in 2024.
A special thank you goes out to all the clubs hosting these crucial matches. We encourage everyone to come out and support their local teams with entry being free, providing a fantastic opportunity to witness high-quality bowls this weekend.
