Bowls England mourns the passing of Her Majesty The Queen

8th September, 2022

Bowls England is deeply saddened at the news that our Patron, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, has passed away. Our thoughts and condolences are with the Royal Family.

Her Majesty’s commitment to duty and her devotion to a life of service was an inspiration to us all. Her loss will be deeply felt throughout the lawn bowls community in England and the wider Commonwealth.

Her Majesty The Queen meeting members of Brimfield and Little Hereford BC during a match at the Royal Household Club in July 2013.

We were proud and privileged that Her Majesty was our Patron and a supporter of our sport. Her Majesty was an occasional visitor of the Royal Household Bowling Club in the grounds of Windsor Castle in Berkshire, where she met players and enjoyed watching the games.

David Tucker, Bowls England Chair, said: “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II led our nation with great distinction and her passing is a sad day for us all. For her dedication over her extraordinary reign, we owe her a debt that can never be repaid. Our thoughts are with her family at this sad time.”

Out of respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family, no play will take place at the Bowls England National Finals on Friday 9th September 2022.

For play beyond Friday, updates will be provided in due course.

Bowls England will provide further advice for players, officials and those who have bought tickets to Friday’s play in due course.
