Brett ready for ‘wonderful’ Riviera bowls cruise

16th March, 2023

Commonwealth Games gold medal winner Nick Brett will be sharing his knowledge with fellow bowlers on the Bowls England Exclusive River Cruise later this year, and it promises to be a brilliant eight days for all involved.

Nick is just one of a number of England players who will be on the cruise, taking part in Q&A sessions and sharing stories as part of an amazing programme. The eight-day cruise sets sail from Budapest on 16th October, taking in the delights of Austria, Hungary and Slovakia before returning to Budapest.

Speaking in a new interview with Riviera Travel’s Head of Partnerships Vicky Billing, Nick said, “I’m looking forward to it being a relaxing holiday with good food, good entertainment and lots of great different locations.

“My daughter has been on cruises with her boyfriend’s family and tells me how fabulous they are, so my wife and I are super excited for sure. There’s some wonderful destinations and hopefully the chance to meet some wonderful new people too!”

In the interview Nick also reflected on highlights of his bowls career so far, saying, “I’ve got a couple in mind! Winning a gold medal at the home Commonwealth Games in Birmingham is right up there in my achievements, alongside winning the world indoor singles, it’s difficult to split them.”

Asked how his teammates would describe him, he said, “Actually I spoke to a couple of teammates to see what they said! Firstly they said astute, I like trying to work people out. Then they said ruthless! I like to win and I try to play hard. Lastly they said I’m intense, I expect everyone to try hard and do all we can – within the rules of course!”
