Bowls England is delighted to award Dr Anna Molony with Honorary Membership in recognition of her exceptional contribution to the governance, development, and strategic growth of the organisation during her tenure as Senior Independent Director on the Board.
Dr Molony brought a unique blend of professional acumen, strategic foresight, and modern business leadership to Bowls England. With a distinguished career as a UK and European Patent Attorney and as a multi-award-winning entrepreneur in the legal and technology sectors, she demonstrated a remarkable ability to apply commercial insight to the governance of a national governing body.
Her professional background includes over 20 years in private practice, the successful founding of two patent firms, and her most recent innovation, Two IP, which has reshaped the way intellectual property professionals operate in the UK. In 2022, she was named Patents Lawyer of the Year by Lawyer Monthly, recognising her trailblazing impact in the legal sector.
During her time on the Bowls England Board, Anna played a central role in the delivery of high standards of corporate governance. She was the Chair of the Nominations Committee, and a key facilitator of the Management Audit & Review Committee, and contributor to the Governance Working Party. She contributed significantly to the effective oversight of the Management Accounts, Risk Register, and Tier 3 Code for Sports Governance, among other core governance documents. Her attention to detail, independent judgment, and ability to challenge constructively made her a trusted and valued member of the Board.
Anna’s commitment to the sport extended beyond the boardroom. As a member of Avenue BC (Leamington), she championed innovation and modernisation at club level, securing local sponsorships and spearheading the introduction of a full-colour club kit in 2020. Her efforts helped reposition the club with a more progressive and community-focused identity. Now she represents Avenue Coventry BC and Warwickshire at County level, reinforcing her credibility as a participant and advocate of the sport.
Anna has brought a fresh perspective to Bowls England, blending professionalism with approachability and aligning governance with modern expectations. Her ability to think differently, mentor others, and lead with integrity embodies the very spirit of honorary membership.
