The European Bowls Union has announced that due to the Covid-19 pandemic the 2021 Championships to be held in Ayr, Scotland has been cancelled.
With 2022 being a very busy calendar, including the Commonwealth Games to be held at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa, the next European Championships will be held in 2023. Bowls Scotland has agreed in principle to host the event.
Jock Halliday, secretary of the EBU, said: “We are confident that the current restrictions and vaccine roll-out will have a major positive effect on the transmission of the virus and will lead to the return to some domestic play in our respective countries.
“The EBU is considering other options for the return of European bowls possibly with a smaller event in early 2022 and we will keep you informed.”
