Family Pairs reaches semi-final stage

The National Family Pairs, supported by the Friends of English Bowling has reached the semi-final stage after four entertaining quarter-final matches at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa.

In the first semi-final, Buckinghamshire’s father-and-son duo of Tom and John McGuinness, who won the title in 2017, will face Devon’s Sophie and Sam Tolchard.

The McGuinness pairing overcame an early 11-1 deficit against Wiltshire’s David and Michael Snell, before losing just two of the next 15 ends to lead 21-14.

In the second semi-final, William and Jamie Walker will face Les and Chris Yeomans from Northumberland.

The Walker brothers defeated Warwickshire’s Mark and Adam Smith, whilst the 2015 and 2016 champions secured a double on the last end to beat Kent’s Dex and Ken Weyand.

Quarter-Final results:

Sophie Tolchard and Sam Tolchard (Devon) beat Graham Street and Marcus Street (Surrey) 25-13;
William Walker and Jamie Walker (Northamptonshire) beat Mark Smith and Adam Smith (Warwickshire) 22-11;
Les Yeomans and Chris Yeomans (Northumberland) beat Dex Weyand and Ken Weyand (Kent) 18-17

Entry to the championships is free of charge. Chargeable parking is available in Victoria Park and in nearby town centre car parks.
