Bowls Development Alliance
The Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) receives funding directly from Sport England to promote and develop the sport of bowls. It is supported by Bowls England and the English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd (EIBA Ltd).
It was announced in December 2012 that the BDA had successfully secured a further £2m from Sport England to invest into the grass roots of the sport to increase participation in the 55 and over age group and disabled participants aged 16 and over. In receiving this additional funding, the BDA have been able to extend their offer of financial and non-financial support to every affiliated club in England via either the package funding system or through the 5 identified County Sport Partnerships Hot Spots – so wherever your club is located, as long as it is affiliated to the appropriate National Governing Body, financial and non-financial support can be accessed from the BDA.
For more information about funding packages and Hot Spot funding opportunities see the links below.
In addition to increasing participation, the BDA has also been asked by Bowls England and the EIBA to develop a new coaching structure for the sport and work began on this in late 2011. Recently the BDA announced the launch of the Coach Bowls Level 1 qualification which was preceded by the Coach Bowls Level 2 qualification and the Play Bowls Introductory Module 4-hour course with a focus on ensuring that a new participants first experience of the sport is a positive and lasting one.

To book on any of the courses offered by Coach Bowls the candidates will be required to join the Coach Bowls scheme, the annual cost of which is just £8. Membership form available here.
