Celebration Matches are a great way for clubs and counties to celebrate an anniversary or a special event. Celebration Matches can be held when a club/county reaches its 50th anniversary and then rising in multiples of 25 years. Subject to Board approval, ‘special occasions’ may also be considered, such as the opening of a new club house.
The President usually brings a team of six rinks. This is made up of players from all over the country (often involving hundreds of miles of travel) in order to celebrate the special occasion. Matches usually start at 1.30pm, allowing for socialising at a buffet beforehand and a main meal after the match, allowing the socialising and fun to continue.
The respective Bowls England President will compile their programme a year in advance and confirm the match date. The closing date for applications for these matches is Week 8 of the year prior to the match.
If your club or association is celebrating an anniversary in future years and wish to request a Celebration Match, contact email@example.com.
