Bringing new people into our sport and supporting volunteers in club roles are vital to the future of bowls. We’re delighted to be working with the Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) to host a series of roadshows across the country to provide clubs and counties with a platform for learning, and the opportunity to speak directly with members of the Bowls England and BDA teams.
The sessions will update clubs on the support that is available to all those affiliated, with a particular focus on recruitment initiatives including Bowls’ Big Weekend and Bowls Bash, wider affiliation benefits and safeguarding guidance and support.
“I was a delegate at the Leicester roadshow and very much enjoyed the event. It was very useful, one that we will reflect on and look at how we can implement things at our club” – Anthony Champion, Soar Valley BC, Leicestershire
Attendees will meet members of the team face-to-face, including their local BDA Club and Community Development Officer, and have the option to try their hand at new game formats, including Bowls Bash.
Jon Cockcroft, Bowls England Chief Executive, said, “Feedback from clubs has consistently shown that recruitment of new participants is their top priority. We’re committed to provide our clubs with support and guidance, so these sessions will provide a great opportunity for affiliated clubs to find out directly what is available to them, to help them grow and the sport to flourish.”
Lisa Graham, BDA Managing Director, added, “Our team is working with affiliated clubs across England daily, and we know that club volunteers are eager to learn more in order for their clubs to thrive. We look forward to meeting club and county volunteers during these sessions.”
