Gloucestershire quartet win Mixed Fours title

Gloucestershire’s Joan Surman, Penny Callaghan, Lee Williamson and Nathan Kitchen have won the National Mixed Fours Competition, sponsored by Bowling Abroad.

They defeated Lincolnshire’s Ruby Hill, Chelsea Tomlin, Ashley Caress and Martin Spencer in this afternoon’s final at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa.

The Cheltenham BC bowlers raced into a 12-1 lead and never looked back, as they secured a 23-15 victory.

Earlier in the day, the Gloucestershire quartet defeated Sussex’s Rachel Mackriell, Lorraine Kuhler, Paul Gandey and Carl Blinco 25-8 in the semi-final, with the Lincolnshire rink overcoming Hampshire’s Julie Hudson, Hazel Gabriel, Alan Geary and Chris Daniels 25-11 at the same stage.
