Bowls England is delighted to announce its international squad for 2025 as the build-up to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games gathers pace.
A total of 25 men and 27 women have been named in the squad that will represent Bowls England at international events this season including British Bowls International Series, Ireland Test Match, Bowls Europe Mixed Pairs, Hong Kong Classic and the new-look World Cup.
The squad includes all those who won Gold for England at the British Bowls International Series and European Championships in 2024. Several who impressed members of the Performance Team during the Balcomb Trophy and Walker Cup last month have also been recognised.
Hayley Kenny and Rebecca Smith (Essex), Louise Whyers (Lincolnshire), Anna Noble (Norfolk) and Izzie White (Worcestershire) make the women’s squad for the first time, whilst Steph Crates (Kent) and Rebecca Willgress (Norfolk) return to the international fold.
In the men’s squad, Tom Bishop (Leicestershire), Phil Broughton (Derbyshire), Tom Holmes (Gloucestershire) and Mark Smith (Warwickshire) receive call-ups with a recall for Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist Louis Ridout (Somerset).
Performance Director Mo Monkton said: “We had a highly successful season in 2024, with great performances by all of our teams. I’m delighted that we have been able to retain the core of players that helped us to achieve success over the past 12 months but also delighted to see several new faces introduced to the squad as competition for places will drive everyone to play to their potential.”
All members of the squad will attend a training day at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa, on Sunday 8 June after which our teams for all events in 2025 will be selected and announced.
