The Board of Bowls England are delighted to welcome James Wurr as a new Independent Director.
James, who has been appointed for a three-year term, brings a wealth of sport-based experience from his role at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, where he is Head of Football Regulator Operational Delivery. He was previously a Senior Events Operations Consultant at the Rugby League World Cup 2021, and before that the Head of Sports Participation again at DCMS.
A graduate of the London School of Economics with a Master’s from Birkbeck College, he has also worked for the Department of Health and Social Care and in the charity sector.
James commented: “I am delighted to be appointed and I hope to bring passion, experience and tangible skills to the position. With the Fit for the Future strategy in place, there are very exciting times ahead for bowls. I hope to help the governing body achieve all of its aims in both the near future and long term.”
Chairman David Tucker said: “We were very impressed with James during the appointment process and I know he will prove a very valuable asset to the board. His experience and his passion for sport and getting people active will be crucial and I look forward to his continued contribution in the coming months and years.”
