The opening rounds of the Men’s Senior Singles supported by the Friends of English Bowling took place today at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa.
In the field of 35 featured the 2016 finalist Stuart Evans (Devon) who defeated Michael Poole (Herts) 21-15 and Michael Tyler (Wilts) 21-4 on route to the Quarter-finals, whereas 2013 winner Rick Gallagher (Cumbria) secured a first round victory over David Shaw (Glos) 21-11. However a slow start in the second round against William Anderson (Somerset) proved to be costly, trailing 0-16 Gallagher made a fightback reducing his score to 9-18 before Anderson put the match to bed 21-9.
