Natalie Chestney

Club: Kings BC

County: Devon

Birmingham 2022: Women’s Triples Gold Medal

Previous Commonwealth Games: 3

Commonwealth Medals: 4

Natalie is a high-calibre Commonwealth gold medallist and will join her husband, Jamie, as part of the 2022 Commonwealth Squad.

Natalie began playing bowls at 9-years-old and was introduced to the game by her father at Teignbridge BC under the guidance of coach Pete Bright.

Based at Kings BC, Torquay, she was marked out as a future star when, at the age of 14, she represented England as part of the under 25s’ team.

Natalie has evolved early promise into a highly successful bowls career. She made her senior international debut in 2009.

One year later, Natalie secured Commonwealth gold in the Singles at the 2010 games in Delhi, beating New Zealand’s world champion and world number one Val Smith. At just 21, this was a truly phenomenal achievement.

Building on her Commonwealth success from four years’ prior, Natalie secured two silvers in the Singles and Pairs in Glasgow at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

She is serial winner both internationally and domestically, with Natalie securing wins in the National Singles and Pairs.

Birmingham will be Natalie’s fourth Commonwealth games and she will hope that home advantage will secure more podiums for England this summer.
