BOWLS ENGLAND THANKS SUPPORTERS FOR ‘TREK TO THE GOLD COAST’ CHALLENGE DONATIONS

The staff at Bowls England would like to record their appreciation for the donations received as part of the ‘Trek to the Gold Coast’ Challenge.

The nine full-time members of staff are walking or cycling the distance of 10,336 miles (16,634km) between the Bowls England Office at Riverside House in Royal Leamington Spa, to Broadbeach Bowls Club on the Gold Coast in Australia – the venue for the lawn bowls events at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The team is currently on target to ‘reach’ the Gold Coast by 4th April 2018, having already accumulating over 1,250 miles (2000km) in approximately six weeks of the challenge, a distance equivalent to having passed Sofia in Bulgaria.

Bowls England would like to thank the ladies from Derbyshire and Yorkshire for taking part in a ‘Spider’ at Long Eaton Town BC earlier this week.

In addition, Bowls England would also like to acknowledge the support and donations from Somerset Bowls Association and The Crouch BC, Sussex, as well as various individuals.

The aim is to raise in excess of £1,663.40 for Disability Bowls England, a target that amounts to 1p per kilometre travelled. Currently, almost £300 has been raised.

Donations can be made by visiting the following link: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/bowlsengland or by sending a cheque made payable to ‘Bowls England’ to Bowls England, Riverside House, Milverton Hill, Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, CV32 5HZ.
