Para Open Singles: Last 16 Confirmed for Aviva National Bowls Finals

16th June, 2025

The path to Leamington continued on Sunday 15th June as 50 para bowlers took to the green across four regional venues, all aiming to secure their place in the Last 16 of the Para Open Singles.

Group stages were held at Polly BC (Nottinghamshire), Biggleswade Town BC (Bedfordshire), Sutton BC (Surrey) and Poole Park BC (Dorset). The competition saw a fantastic mix of returning players and newcomers, with a brilliant atmosphere and close matches throughout the day.

One of the tightest encounters came at Polly BC, where Fynn Kyser edged out Jack Pullin 20-19 in a thrilling final match to top his group.

The feedback from players and officials was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising both the spirit of the competition and the smooth running of the day:

“This was the first time I have umpired a Para event. The atmosphere between the players was really good and those who needed help were given it by the other bowlers.”
– Gordon McCann, Umpire & Bedfordshire President

Congratulations to all 12 group winners, along with the four highest-performing runners-up, who have qualified for the Aviva National Bowls Finals, with the latter stages of the competition played from 18th to 19th August 2025 on the prestigious greens at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa.

Bowls England’s Disability Officer, Helen Lewis-Wall, said, “I would like to thank each of the four venues, volunteers and the umpires and markers for doing such an excellent job in putting on these fantastic events. It is incredible to see the talent of these players and I am very excited to welcome the qualifiers to the Aviva National Bowls Finals in August, who will no doubt have inspired many more players with a disability to try out this wonderful game.”
