Play Bowls: The New Club Finder

14th April, 2025

As part of our commitment to increase the visibility of our clubs to current and potential participants, Bowls England are pleased to launch a new-look Club Finder via our Play Bowls platform.

The site has undergone significant development, the purpose of which was to create a more comprehensive club finder for current and potential players whilst also creating a ‘one stop shop’ for all club data.

This will enable clubs to better publicise themselves among the bowls community – whilst offering potential new players an easy way to find nearby clubs and everything they have to offer, from ‘Pay and Pay’ and Bowls Bash sessions to full memberships.

Clubs will also be able to provide additional information about their facilities, and to input contact information for key personnel including Secretary, Greenkeeper and Safeguarding Officer that can then be used by counties and Bowls England to provide relevant updates.

What does this mean for your club?

  • Better exposure of your club
  • Current and potential players finding your club more easily
  • Easily set up casual ‘pay and play’ offering to drive additional revenue
  • Benefit from nationwide promotion of the platform

So, what next?

Main club admins will receive an email with more information and their login details. Clubs can also visit our dedicated Play Bowls webpage for more information. Here they can find out more about the developments and find step by step guides about the site.

The Bowls England website will no longer feature the Club Finder tool and, as such, Clubs no longer need to keep their details up to date on the Bowls England website. All club information will be available on Play Bowls.

How will the platform be promoted?

The Play Bowls platform will be promoted throughout the season as a way to inspire potential players to give bowls a go, as well as positioning it as the tool to ‘find a club near you’. Bowls England will amplify promotion of the site at key times throughout the year to engage with new audiences, such as Commonwealth Games updates, and will promote ‘Pay and Play’ offerings at clubs. For clubs to get the most of the platform and benefit from Bowls England marketing campaigns, clubs are encouraged to sign up to offer ‘Pay and Play’ to new players within their community.
