Recap the year with our 2022 Annual Report

24th February, 2023

We are pleased to share our 2022 Annual Report, which will be presented at the Bowls England Annual General Meeting on Saturday 25th February.

2022 was a truly memorable year for the sport, as bowls returned closer to normality across the country, and the game was given a fantastic platform with the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.  A record medal haul for an England team made us all feel proud and delivered significant exposure for lawn bowls.

With bowls clubs nationwide striving to grow the game through initiatives like Bowls’ Big Weekend, Bowls Bash and PlayBowls, it was hugely satisfying to see a rise in the number of people playing our great sport.

Consistent with our long-term budgets, we drew down on £300k of reserves to maximize Birmingham 2022 and we plan to return to a budget surplus by 2024.

This annual report reflects on all aspects of the year as we deliver our Fit for the Future strategy.  It includes:

– The Chair and Chief Executive’s Reports
– A summary of activity in areas such as Club Services, Competitions, Commercial, Communications and Governance.
– Review of Birmingham 2022’s England performance
– The National Finals Roll of Honour
-2021/22 Financial Information

Also included is a calendar of events for 2023.
