Lincolnshire’s Sheila Plaskitt and Penny Strong have won the Bowls England Women’s National Pairs Championship, sponsored by ST Sports following a remarkable fightback in the final this afternoon at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa.
The pair from Dunholme BC, Lincolnshire, trailed Devon’s Emma Cooper and Natalie Chestney from Kings BC 18-9 after 15 ends, but then scored on the last six ends – including a single on the last end – to secure the title.
In the semi-finals Plaskitt and Strong defeated Cheryl Colby and Morgan Merryweather, from Island Bohemian BC, Berkshire, whilst Cooper and Chestney defeated Lincolnshire’s Caroline Cullum and Amy Gowshall from Cleethorpes BC.
