Bowls England would like to congratulate Sue Pember, who will become a member-elected Board Director in 2026 for a three-year term. Sue was co-opted on the board in April 2025 following the Independent Director recruitment process.
Sue is a passionate bowler and currently serves as Chair of her local, thriving bowling club. Her career began in education, progressing to senior leadership roles including Chief Executive and Director positions within colleges, local authorities, and national government. She now works as Policy Advisor at HOLEX, the national professional body for adult education.
While in government, Sue led several high-profile national initiatives and was responsible for overseeing skills funding. Her extensive expertise in lifelong learning, government funding, governance, and community development provides valuable insight to Bowls England’s efforts to grow participation, improve accessibility, and strengthen the sport’s social impact.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue serving on the Board. It has been a real privilege to work alongside such a committed and passionate team, and to see our collective efforts making a positive difference across the sport. I am honoured to be reappointed and excited to build on the progress we have made to strengthen and grow the game for the future”.
The Vice Presidents and Sue Pember will undertake an induction by Darren Butler, People Officer, before commencing their new roles at the AGM in February.
