Sussex’s Pat Gould secures 2019 Patron’s Cup

17th October, 2019

Sussex’s Pat Gould from Peacehaven BC, has won the 2019 Bowls England Patron’s Cup.

Gould, who was the runner-up 12 months ago, secured the title with an impressive +25 shot difference (27-2).

Gould’s success means that a representative from Sussex have secured the title in three of the last five years, following the triumphs of Gina Symons in both 2015 and 2017.

Special mention must also go to 2012 winner Pauline Bright, from Bedfordshire, who finished as runner-up with a +22 shot score line of 31-9, conceding shots on only five of her 20 ends played.

The competition is run on one day, with each player keeping their own scorecard. Each player plays four games of five ends with the playing position of each player within the rink being drawn for each game. The winner is decided on overall shot difference.

Each county winner is then submitted to Bowls England who collate the winners from all counties and the person with the highest overall shot difference being declared the National winner.
