On the inaugural day of the Four Nations Test Event, the Birmingham 2022 Games squad, the Para team, and the Lions enjoyed an exciting opener at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa.
Session two saw victory across the board for our Birmingham 2022 squad as they took on Australia Gold whilst competing in the Women’s Pairs, Women’s Singles, Men’s Singles and Men’s Fours. In the Men’s Singles England’s Jamie Walker secured two shots on the final end to secure a thrilling 21-20 victory against Australia’s Corey Wedlock.
An 18-18 draw against Wales’ Anwen Butten in the Triples kicked off Rebecca Wigfield’s 2022 campaign, “I’m thrilled to be back on the greens at Victoria Park as well as to be a member of the England Lions squad” she said.
As for Kieran Rollings, the Team England Para player, he is excited for the opportunity to play competitive bowls on what will be the stage of the summer. “It’s incredible to be able to play alongside some of the best international bowlers,” he said.
Having earned a 21 – 8 victory over Wales in session one, Rollings is eager to see how the Test Event will progress. Kieran added: “Craig and I work well together and we are looking forward to the weekend to work towards taking the gold at Birmingham 2022!”
In the opening session of Saturday’s competition, our 2022 Games squad is facing Australia Green, the Lions face Australia Gold and the Para Squad faces Australia Gold. Who will be victorious?
