The Friends of English Bowling gives a unique opportunity for all bowlers to show their support for the sport of outdoor bowls whilst enjoying a number of exclusive member benefits.

Originally formed in 2005, ‘The Friends’ gives everyone who has taken part and enjoyed bowls the opportunity to give something back and now has over 350 members. Each member receives a lapel badge, regular newsletters and Bowls England news updates by joining the Friends of English Bowling Google Group.

Members may also participate in ‘Friends’ bowls matches during the course of the season, which will again include two matches on the hallowed turf at Royal Leamington Spa during the National Championships.

At the National Championships, a hospitality marquee is provided where members can meet over tea, coffee and light refreshments, all free of charge, to catch up with fellow ‘Friends’ and discuss the day’s play. This marquee is exclusively reserved throughout the Championships for the use of the Bowls England sponsors, ‘The Friends’ and special guests of Bowls England only. Each individual member will be invited to a Presidential Lunch.

‘Friends’ are also entitled to enter the ‘Members Only’ Open Two Wood Pairs Competition in August during the National Championships at Royal Leamington Spa.

‘The Friends’ is the biggest supporter of the sport of outdoor bowls in England and uses its funds to back National Championship and National Competition events, assist youth development and support additional facilities provided for players and supporters at the Championships.

The total amount donated to Bowls England each year by ‘The Friends’ is about £37,000. The money was allocated by Bowls England to support a number of National Championships and National Competitions, together with the provision of First Aid facilities., ‘The Friends’ funded the purchase of a new First Aid Tent and will continue to support several high-profile events including the Tony Allcock Trophy.

All 35 County Associations are Association Members of ‘The Friends’, and funding is also allocated to help towards each county’s expenses associated with the final stages of the Middleton Cup, Johns Trophy, White Rose Trophy and Amy Rose Bowl.
