Managing and improving your facilities Bowls England is committed to raising the standard of facilities at sustainable community bowls clubs around England, increasing the opportunities to access quality playing conditions for both new and existing players. Managing the facilities at a community bowls club can be a minefield of legislation and guidelines, from planning permission for floodlights to fire safety compliance in clubhouses, or funding assistance for construction to developing a project management plan. To help make the most of your resources, BE has detailed information on all aspects of managing and improving your facilities. These range from design and construction guidance for clubhouses and changing rooms, through to car parking.

Local Authority Playing Pitch Strategies

Local authorities often run consultations for designated areas to look at the provision of sports facilities for the current and projected population of the area.

Bowls England represents Bowls clubs in this and make sure you are given a voice as to how and where facilities are supported locally. This could be in the shape of additional funding from the LA or how planning permissions for residential developments are viewed.

We have supported clubs who have come under pressure for greens maintenance and helped councils decide to continue to offer greens and club support for clubs suffering from a reduction in membership.

Members are able to view the list of the current PPS consultations we are currently involved with here.
