Umpires and Markers play a vital role in the organisation of the sport of bowls at club, county, national and international level.

Many find umpiring and marking a very rewarding experience – and an opportunity to officiate at many different events.

Umpires have the opportunity to develop their skills and, if they wish to do so, to reach international level and experience the sport of bowls at the highest level.

The English Bowls Umpires Association also offers a markers course, which gives a very basic insight into the principles of marking a singles match and some instruction on some measuring exercises. The rest is up to you!

If you wish to find out more about the opportunities available (including latest course information), go to: www.ebua.co.uk

To officiate at events such as Commonwealth Games, World Bowls and other events governed by World Bowls Ltd, Umpires need to attain the World Bowls Ltd International Technical Officials (ITO) assessment which is required to be eligible for selection.
