How do I buy tickets?
Tickets are available to purchase here. Tickets can be purchased individually or as a table of ten. Individual tickets are £65 and tables cost £625 for ten guests.

Who can come?
Everyone! The Bowls England Awards is a fantastic opportunity to recognise bowls’ most deserving grassroots volunteers, officials and players for their outstanding achievements over the past 12 months. Bring your family and friends along to celebrate.

What is on the menu?

Starter

GIN CURED SALMON
Served with King Prawns, beetroot mayo, cucumber relish and brioche crumble.

Or

ANTI PASTI PLATE
Marinated Mediterranean char-grilled vegetables with houmous, guacamole and an olive & tomato tapenade.

Main

TOMATO AND SWEET BASIL CHICKEN
Chicken breast filled with torn basil leaves & mozzarella cheese, wrapped in bacon served with garlic & rosemary new potatoes and a heritage tomato & red wine sauce.

MARINATED CAULIFLOWER STEAK ON A MEDITERRANEAN STYLE RAGU (Vg/Gf/Df)
Served with sauteed rosemary and garlic potatoes and vegetable crisps

SALTED CARAMEL PROFITEROLE STACK
Light choux pastry profiteroles filled with a salted caramel Chantilly cream, topped with chocolate sauce.

An offering of Stilton, Brie and Cheddar cheese served with a selection of biscuits, chutneys, celery and grapes.

What's included in the VIP upgrade?

You can enhance your Awards experience by upgrading to the VIP drinks reception. As part of the upgrade you’ll receive all of the benefits of a standard ticket, as well as:

Where can I stay in Leicester?
We have limited availability at preferential rates on rooms at the Ramada Encoure, LE1 1GE, which is a three minute walk away from Athena. Single rooms: £130.00, double/twin rooms: £145.00, both includes breakfast. You can book through our accommodation partner, CSE. Book directly by clicking here to receive the best price.

How will we be seated?
If you book a table, you will be seated with the people you list. If you book individual seats, we cannot guarantee who you will sit with.

What time do doors open?
Doors open at 6.15 pm for a drinks reception. If you have paid to upgrade to the VIP drinks reception door will open at 5.45pm. Please note you will not be allowed entry into the venue if you have not purchased an upgraded VIP experience.

What should I wear?
The dress code for the event is smart.

Do Bowls England offer refunds?
Tickets are transferable but not refundable. If you have purchased a ticket but can no longer attended please email ticketing@bowlsengland.com. Please note, if tickets are transferred after Friday 31st January 2025, we will not be able to accommodate changes to the printed name card, meal choice and seating plan. If you are shortlisted and consequently are awarded a free ticket to the event and you have already purchased one we will refund you.

Do I need to show a ticket to get into the event?
Yes, you will be sent e-tickets from our ticketing partner, Eventim, once you have purchased your tickets. If you have not received your confirmation as expected, please first check your spam and junk email folders. If you still cannot find your confirmation, please contact ticketing@bowlsengland.com.

Can I purchase tickets on the door for this event?
Tickets to attend Awards are not purchasable on the night and you must pre-purchase your ticket to attend the event. However, VIP drinks reception upgrade will be available on the evening at an increased rate.

Who is invited to the VIP reception?
There will be a VIP reception hosted by our Board and Presidential Team. Amongst the invitees will be Presidents, Board, Life Members, Hon Members, Past Presidents, Shortlisted nominee’s, County Administrators and additional guests.

I have bought a ticket and have been shortlisted, what do I do?
Congratulations on making the shortlist! If you have already purchased a ticket Bowls England will offer a full refund. Please contact ticketing@bowlsengland.com. Alternatively, you can transfer your ticket to a family member or a friend.

How do I get to the Athena and where should I park?

There are a number of car parks close to the Athena, with the multi-storey NCP Rutland Centre Car Park being the closest to the venue. Please see below for further information.

By Bus

All Leicestershire bus services have stops within a 3 to 10-minute walk of the Athena. Services that stop on or near Charles Street, Humberstone Gate or at Haymarket Bus Station are the closest.

Regional bus services terminate at St Margaret’s Bus Station, Gravel Street, LE1 3AG (12 minutes walk from the Athena).

By Train

Leicester Train Station is less than 10 minutes’ walk away via Charles Street.
